MOBILE :LATEST FASHION IN KUMAUN
Since last 5 years,mobile phones are covering all Kumaun rapidly.Now It's a kind of fashion & basic need of kumaun peoples . It may be common for all other peoples of rest states.But for kumaun, it's strange.Because still we are undeveloped in comparison to other. Somewhere still some peoples are waiting for a road,college and good hospital.But you will find a mobile tower there,and can you imagine that every week they are looking for a recharge voucher of mobile. In Kumaun you can find a mobile tower at such a place,where electricity and roads are still a major problem.
Mobile user are increasing rapidly.Some rare and strange fact behind it are following:-

• Mobile is the best mean of communication in hilly side.that's why It's very popular here. And everyone want to buy it.


• Most of the people are earning outside of kumaun.So mobile is the best mean of communication for their relatives to be in touch with them.


• Now a days kumauni peoples are using mobile as a symbol of status. So in many case you will find that they are having more then two mobile.

Kumauglish : A language by inheritance

Kumauglish ,kumauni(simply pahari) +English……. It seems to strange.
Kumauni language doesn’t have it’s own form. Under the English ruling, kumauni language was affected by their language. Therefore till today kumauni language is a mix-up of English and pahari.

There are some fact about that language and some words of that language.

1. This is a reagional language.
2. Most popular in kumaun,Because if ur using english word with ur language peoples thinks that ur a person from urben area.

The best example is that, In Kumaun no one know what is the main post of medical dept.(simply in hindi "mukhay chikitsa adhikari').But they know this post in english.

Strange Marriage:Pan singh married water pot.

It's true....

On 10th of may 2007 , 60 years old Pan singh of Jatty,Almora(Uttrakhand) was married to a water pot.

Actually, Pan Singh is a bachelor.And according to kumauni tradition, life is incomplete without marriage (Only for person living community life.) It supposed that the 'Bachelor' man or woman will be cast into hell after death.Therefore a man or woman who didn't marry due to any reason, will marry to a water pot and this marriage is generally known as "Kumbh Vivah".

In 'Kumbh Vivah" all process will be same as usual.But in place of bride there will be a water pot.And after marriage groom will keep that pot at his residence.
