Kumaun is the part of Uttrankhand . The Himalian area of Uttrankhand can be divided into two parts .1.Kumaun
2.Garhwal.
Kumauni people are very simple. Most of them, who belong to rural areas, spend most of their time in the lap of nature. And they have good understanding with nature in comparison to other.
Therefore without using any scientific instruments they can forecast, simply supposition of weather and other things.
1. These suppositions are totally based on the personal experience.
2. Most of them are transferred from one generation to other. That's cause of inaccuracy due to wrong understanding of them.
Suppositions.
Weather forecast.
1. If clouds are moving from east to west it will be rain.
This is one of the most successful supposition of kumauni people. ☺must try it.
2. In the evening of mansoon(rainy seasons) if clouds are appeared . Then the next day sky will be clear or clouded sun.
And you can enjoy sunbathing ☺must try it .
3.· If bubbles are appearing in the rain water during rains. It's supposed that it will rain heavily.
Other suppositions witches are just superstition.
1.The triangular field is useless for every purpose. That's why most of the kumauni peoples don't like to buy fields of triangular shape.
2.The height of your building shouldn't be more then any temple , which is just near (100feet) of your building.
It's supposed that it's disastrous and may be cause of a casualty especially for family living in it.
Note:-Now a days this supposition is in vogue only in remote villages where land is not a problem.
3.To stop heavy and continuous hailing (Hindi;- olay) which will vanished the crops. Just keep the an axe outside of your house ,blade facing the sky.
It's supposed that it will cut the hailing and hailing will stop.
4. Avoid to lick the ladle ,otherwise it will be cause of heavy rain and hailing on your wedding day.
